The root of the current battles to re-establish our country on God’s principles is spiritual.  
The battles are being fought in the natural, however, they are bigger in the spiritual
realm than what we can see. For this reason how we engage in battle in the spiritual will
determine the outcome we see in the natural, visible realm.

Worship has always been one of our key weapons to secure God's victory in our battles.
Worship like nothing else releases God to be God (Sovereign and Almighty) over our
circumstances.  Worship is commanded.  This is not because God needs our worship.  
He does not.  He Is, Was and Will Be – all whether we choose to worship or not.  
However, when we choose to spend time adoring Him which could have been spent on
ourselves or making requests in prayer, we declare He is God.  Worship puts us in right
standing with Him.  It shows we know He is Lord and not we ourselves.  It states that we
know He is in control.  Therefore it establishes His Lordship over us.  Praise –a form of
worship – is the gate to the Dwelling Place.  Thanksgiving – another form of worship is
how we enter the gates.  Praise brings us into His courtyards.  

Thus we ascend spiritually to our position in Christ and enter the heavenly throne room
when we worship.  And He promises to inhabit our praise (Ps. 22:3 KJV).  So it is by our
worship that the atmosphere of abiding is created which He desires for us.  (He dwells in
the Father and the Father in Him….He desires for us to dwell in Him and He will dwell in
us.)  

The increase of His Presence wrought by our worship by definition must bring with it an
increase of all that He is into our circumstances, (i.e., His might, way, love, mercy,
redeeming power, etc).  Our worship also invites Him to have His way with us and the
world around us.  And He does.  His supernatural invades our natural and things begin to
be effected in ways not explainable by human logic.  (Remember when Peter’s shadow
caused healing when he passed by due to the intense, intimate Presence of the Lord
which accompanied him?)

Often God’s strategy for human victories in Old Testament times illogically called for the
worshippers to lead the way into battle – those adoring God in the spiritual realm going
before those who would war in the physical realm.  Yet because of their obedience to
worship first, God granted them victories in supernatural ways beyond anything the
people could have imagined.  

We want God’s supernatural ways, not our own.  We want His supernatural victories,
which enable  1) re-building our society founded on His principles and 2) for Him to be
revealed through how the victories come to pass.  In this way His Kingdom purposes are
served both now and for eternity. When His supernatural ways invade our natural there is
no explanation for what has happened except the existence of our God.  As a result more
recognize Him, choose Him as Lord and are adopted into His family for eternity.   There
needs to be a covering of worship created for all the actions we intend to restore our
country to its Christian foundations.

Worship is more an attitude of heart than a particular action.  We are called to worship in
spirit and truth.  When done with the right attitude: rejoicing in the Lord and trusting in His
perfect provision in His perfect timing, almost anything can be an act of worship.  
However, frequently we also worship Him by setting aside a time specifically to honor Him
with music and or our spoken words.   

Worship is adoring God for who He is and giving Him credit for what He does.  Worship
can be declaring His names, thanking Him for what He has done, proclaiming what He will
do according to His promises.  Worship asks Him for NOTHING.  And how honored He is
when we spend time adoring Him instead of always asking in prayer.  In our worship
resides an inherent trust.  It declares we know we CAN spend our time in adoration
because we TRUST as God He will take care of everything else.  Worship can be brand
new songs or words which God has us declare spontaneously.  However, for many
worship is singing along with music being performed or already recorded by someone
else.  We can worship alone, or meeting together with others.  Our act of worship might
be attending a worship service or Mass with an attitude of adoration which gives back
instead of one which seeks personal benefit.  Important is the heart completely given
over to God, choosing to trust in His purposes, rejoice in what He’s doing and will do and
reveling in His love IN SPITE of worldly circumstances.

We all different parts of one Body under the Head, Jesus Christ.  As these parts , God
calls us to be unified.  Generally, we are not.  We are splintered into denominations and
factions.  However, no matter how divided we as Christians, in worship we can unite.  We
all agree GOD is worthy of our worship.   For the purpose of united worship, we must set
our differences and discussion of them aside temporarily.  We must focus on what we
have in common – a foundational belief in Jesus Christ as Son of the one and only true
and triune God, crucified, risen and coming again, on His Kingship and on the necessity
of Him as Savior and Lord.   

As many of us as possible need to set aside a time each day for some type worship.  It
can be alone or together, in word, song or deed, but there is a need for a unified
worldwide atmosphere of worship to be created where at all times of the day and night
those who are called are consciously offering up worship to Him.  In this way, the small
individual worship offerings of each of us will be quilted together to form a never-ending
covering of worship – changing the spiritual atmosphere of our country and the world to
one where He is welcome and honored.  His Presence will invade the atmosphere of
worship and by the increase of His Presence, we will hear His voice and discern His plan
more clearly, His power will infuse our actions in accordance with this plan and He will
accomplish the restoration of our land.

Each of us must pray whether God is calling us to join in unified worship.  (Since He
commands us to worship, most will be called; the question is whether we will hear.)   
There is no set or mandated way to worship.  Each of us will be instructed by His Spirit
how to participate.

In early 2007 I felt as if the Lord instructed me to begin unifying the nation in worship
utilizing one song, so that at any time of any day or night the words and/or music of this
song would be rising up before His throne.  There is nothing which makes this worship
song, called “Ascend In Worship” better than any other.  It is simply one He laid on my
heart to present to the Body of Christ as a potential rallying cry.  It still stands ready to be
used for this purpose.  However, we can and should worship any way He calls us to.  
Important is not the “how” of worship, but an ongoing heart for worship and the choice to
dedicate a daily sacrifice of time to it.  It is this dedication in joyful hope which will cause
the heavens to reverberate with our praise, the spiritual change in the atmosphere to
transpire and God to heal our land.
