| Finding Jesus & Learning to Hear His Voice |
It began with seeking to know God ~ not just believe in Him, but truly getting to know Him. And yes, I understand He is infinite and beyond our comprehension, but I needed to know Him as well as I could. Even though I had been raised in a Christ-centered home and given my life to Him at an early age, in my 20’s I went through a wilderness period where I wasn't even sure God was real, let alone Jesus Christ. After 10 years I reached the point where I could no longer go on if God were not real and so I asked for the gift of faith. In 1992 I re- dedicated my life to Jesus Christ and have been pursuing greater intimacy with Him ever since! But this time, instead of praying at Him as I had my entire childhood, I determined to try to listen, too – just in case He had anything to say to me…. Thus begun the life- transforming journey which continues today into His amazing plans for my life instead of my own. I had always known I was to be a writer. For longest time I just didn’t know I was to write for Him. But He taught me better and in 1993 I felt Him calling me to found a company called Holy Spirit Press to begin publishing what He had me write. Then in 1994 He began speaking to me about a book He was going to have me write. On July 3, 1994 He woke me in the middle of the night to begin writing it down. Within 40 minutes it was done and what was to become The Tree – a little book of faith and hope was birthed. In late 2003 as my heart anguished over the decision to return our children from homeschooling to Christian school, God gave me a new job. He had me start writing weekly e-devotions available by subscription. His Touch of Hope was born. Just months later, on February 18, 2004 the Lord called me to play a poor quality cassette recording for my Bible study group of one of the dozen or so songs I had composed over the years. As an intimate foursome, we always had preceded our Bible study with a time of worship to music on CDs, intertwined with intercession as the Holy Spirit led. After we sang the song together, my friends felt led to surround me and pray over me that I would begin receiving more music from the Holy Spirit – a new sound for His kingdom. They anointed me into worship ministry. The next day I received the first new worship song. There have been over 250 since. In April 2004 while on a walk, I told the Lord He should have someone compose a song for the War on Terror from a spiritual perspective. Ten minutes later all of a sudden the chorus to such a song began flooding my mind. By the time I had finished the walk, the Lord had given me the first verse as well. The following day the song was complete. It has been recorded as a march called "We Will Fight For Freedom" and now as a rock anthem renamed, "Stand Up". In Feb 2005 as I committed to pray for a young man to whom I had been introduced who was being deployed, the Lord gave me a powerful vision. He showed me a canvas sheet being lowered from heaven like a tent over a group of our troops as they marched in formation in a Middle Eastern desert. As the tent covered them, the Lord spoke to my heart. If I would get "Stand Up!" and some of the new worship music over to our deployed troops and if they would use it to facilitate worship, then He would be their covering. He would hem them in before and behind and on both sides as never before. He would be the banner over them and their standard- bearer. Their obedient act of worship would bring forth an increase of His sovereign protection and there would be fewer casualties. He also showed me dark places in the desert where the enemy was hiding and gave me to know that by their worship His light would shine more intently into the dark places and the enemy’s hiding places would be revealed. All this passed before my eyes in an instant, but it has determined every step I have taken since! I had to find a way to get the music to our troops! But I had no idea how! I am not a trained singer or musician. I had no music industry experience. The remainder of 2005 was spent trying to figure out how to do this. I knocked on too many doors to count until the Lord led a friend to let me know about a new Christian recording studio in her area. The studio agreed to work with me and all 2006 we labored together. In obedience to the vision 2 CDs were produced: a CD single of “We Will Fight For Freedom” recorded as a patriotic march; and a worship CD, called Ascend In Worship, which includes 11 of the new worship songs. Meanwhile in February 2006 as I began to record, the Lord also expanded the vision. One day as I drove along in my car I heard Him say, “Take it to the churches.” “What, Lord? Take what?” I inquired. “Take to my Body the message of unity through worship. Teach them about the power of worship. Do it for the troops.” Last spring I wrote a teaching on it called "The POWer of Worship" to be published as a "little book" and a Bible Study in 2007. Summer 2006 I was named to the Northern California State Team for Moms In Touch International, an international, interdenominational ministry for weekly prayer groups in schools. I am honored to lead some mini retreats for their leadership using the music and some new Bible studies I've been writing called, Scripture-Soaking Bible Studies. Watch for them available in the website store soon! Where do we go from here? Wherever He leads. This is what I know so far... But keep checking into this website for updates! And read our new BLOG. Our Lord is so big and so wide and so infinite and so supernatural that He tends to expand the visions as I get into the work of walking it out. If nothing else, life is exciting and full of surprises when we are seeking to follow the delightful Master Shepherd! In the meantime we'll work on His strategies as He leads, write devotions & Bible studies, record worship music and go on speaking engagements - all for you! And I couldn’t be more excited. living one's Christian faith versus
merely reciting it.
She began writing as a young girl
and composed her first music in
high school. Although she is
author or co-author of several
books and numerous articles on a
variety of topics, her writing
didn't take on true direction until
she recommitted herself to serving
Christ in 1992.
Elizabeth now dedicates her
writing and composing exclusively
to those projects where she feels
God's call.
She has a love for the Body of
Christ and a heart for unity of its
many varied parts through
worship, prayer and service. Her
daily focus is seeking God’s will
and staying in it so His
supernatural ways can be revealed
in her natural life and to equip
others to do the same.
Elizabeth has written a variety of
books, including The Tree, and
sends out a weekly e-devotional,

contributing writer on 9/11 widow
Deena Burnett’s 2006 book,
Fighting Back – Living Life
